Ive picked up some great deals been a premium member, deals that wouldn't be there in an hour nevermind 72 ! its the cost of a couple of oz of silver to join and is nothing compaired to what you could get in return. Also the premium members area is very useful. PLUS... been a premium member you get invites to all @kimchi's and @fehk2001 's "weekend activities"

Does anyone collect the non-precious metal 2 pound coins in the UK? If so, do you use a coin book? The annual or definitive sets released by the Royal Mint? Graded and slabbed versions? I've got a few now - the 2015 reintroduction of the Britannia portrait both in circulated condition and from the definitive coin set slabbed, the WWI aviation definitive coin set slabbed, and am very excited for the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley's Modern Prometheus (Frankenstein!) coin this year. I love the Kew Gardens 50 pence and the Sir Isaac Newton of the same denomination, but only have the latter slabbed by NGC. Photos below are mine and of my coins.

2018 is almost here and I am already planning big things for the coming year! Here are a few of the plans I have for 2018. Leaf Ripple Series This is where BYB started. I stamped a leaf on the rippled side of a pour (to imitate the leaf creating ripples on the molten silver). I pour what I like and what people want. I try new moulds and weights and just pour what takes my fancy, call it dealers choice! The 2017 edition finished with 250 as the final mintage. In 2018 I will be starting the mintage from "001" again. The key part of this series is that every single piece that is made is videoed so that you can see it being poured. They will all be hallmarked and be branded with my "BYB" logo as well. I don't think we will get to 250 as a mintage again as this was stretched over 18 months since I started this adventure. But I estimate that we will get to 200. If you have got an existing piece in the "2017" edition and you would like to reserve your number again then just get in touch and let me know - if you would like the same shape or a different piece making this is totally possible as well! "BYB" Branded Investment Bars I plan on creating a limited mintage of both 1oz and 100g "BYB" branded investment bars for 2018. I am not sure of the mintage at this stage but they will probably be between 30 - 50 "1oz" bars and about 25 "100g" bars. 1oz & 100g Silver Forum Bars We will be creating 1oz and 100g Silver forum bars again in 2018. People who have a 2017 version of a bar will have first refusal of their existing serial numbers. More information on this will come out over the course of 2018. I am planning on having the 1 oz bars to be all done and released by the end of May 2018 and the 100g Bars to be released by the end of September 2018. 250g Silver Forum Bars Yes that is right - you heard it here first! We will be introducing a new weight of silver forum bars, 250g. We have not worked out the particulars at this stage but more information will follow in 2018. If you are interested in this size of bar please let me know. Due to the size of these bars they will likely be minted to order only and over the course of 2018. Brand new and exciting and original hand poured silver special releases Mrs BYB and I have been brainstorming lots over the last few months and have some really exciting ideas for some original designs. We don't want to ruin any surprises but we are quite excited about some of the ideas we have. Hopefully 2018 will see some of these come to life and prove exciting to all of you! Custom made hand poured silver pieces I will of course continue to make new pieces to request for really any occasion. If you want a special something for just you or a wedding, christening, anniversary or "whatever you like" present then just get in touch! Pouring Gold Yes that is right - GOLD - I want to give it a go, so watch this space! Getting the BYB Brand bigger and better! This last goal is to start expanding the BYB Brand to dealers. I am already talking with a few bullion dealers in Europe about some BYB bars that might end up on the global stage. Who knows - but it is one of my goals to get my products listed on some of the biggest dealers in Europe and North America. Along similar lines we are looking to expand to local trade. Small jewellery and nick nack shops in the UK primarily. If you know of any shops that might be interested in some hand made craft work then please point them my way! So as you can tell 2018 will be a very busy year! Please feel free to comment here with your thoughts and feedback! All that is left to say is have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!! and I wish you all a very prosperous 2018!

This is so simple to me. I shoulda been a PM guru instead of slaving for the MAN for so long. Listen, somehow I knew everything would be up or level comes the new year! Don't ask me how I knew, I just knew, and see? Boom! Everything is up from 2017. From now to the middle of the year PMs will play the pocket change waltz. Pennies will go up, and pennies will go down. Stackers will celebrate in utter joy because they saved 10 cents an ounce of silver from the day before. Cryptos will not disappear(bitcoin will level to a workable speed, but won't burst and crash), instead all the smaller cryptos will become popular because of new investors not understanding the reason Ripple went up and will start buying Tron, Iota, and Cardano. As far as gold...Hummana hummana hummana, yes the planets tell me gold will be up this year! So simple, and all this information is free for forum members btw.

    stacking goals 2018

I really haven't any idea of retirement plans that include PMs. I never looked into it or even considered it. I'm already retired going almost 2 years now. Anything extra is gravy! My thoughts on PMs haven't changed since I started which was wealth retention. I never thought I'd be looking for a 1979 Mexican onza on ebay instead I thought I'd buy generic silver for weight and end of story. Maybe you already guessed it, I didn't get much further than the few generic rounds that I have. I came into this with the plan of stacking many many oz of silver, instead my interests have turned to large sized old silver coins from around the world. Edit: Hmm, stacking silver for retirement? I thought about it for 3 seconds and I just don't see it. You'd need a large room or at least a large walk-in closet to stack enough silver for retirement. I don't have that kinda room. When I think I want to retain wealth, I'm thinking more in the lines of enough silver when switched to fiat, it'd amount to $100k. If I could achieve this then it'd be so cool, but the way things are going and with so many old coins around, I just have my doubts. Also I discovered that I wasted lots of time and energy looking at spot prices. Waiting for the spot price to go down another 25 cents to make that big 10oz silver bar purchase is just plain nuts. I think I have ways to go as a stacker/collector/flipper or whatever.

Received my 1911 Canada sovereign today, it is my 10th full sov so I’m chuffed! Im not to sure about grade, but I paid roughly the same amount of a Atkinson’s mixed sov. I already have a London mint 1911 so I will put that up for sale to get a different date as I want to try and get a sov for each year (1900-1932)

    Silver Monitoring Thread £ only.

We've seen a very decent bounce in spot prices over the last 2 weeks. Wouldn't surprise me if we gave up some of those gains, such is the up 'n down nature of this phase of the market, but it looks like we've made a nice "higher low" which is all consistent with building a solid base for an eventual move higher. The GSR has also pulled back a bit, though silver still could still have a bit of short term upside in this respect. Feeling a lot happier that I picked up a bigger than usual order last month.

What will happen to gold if we go digital

Bitcoin is the biggest scam I ever seen.Lost 50 pounds, bought with blockchain and tried to sell the bitcoins to see how much they charge and to understand better the bitcoin but your account gets blocked for 7 days, just once, for ''security'' reasons.During these 7 days the price plummeted so nothing you could do.For every transaction they charge the same amount in fees or for miners because ''The Bitcoin network is currently experiencing record usage, resulting in longer confirmation times and higher miner’s fees for transactions. Transactions are likely to be more expensive and/or take longer to complete and additional fees go directly to miners.''See some reviews here https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/blockchain.info. People are stuck into it,they can`t sell it because they will lose half the money invested. Also, the price is heavily manipulated. I own a few kilo of silver coins from say 1850 to current date.I buy what I like but dunno why everything I like it`s expensive.I strongly believe you can`t go wrong with old coins as an investment and if you are lucky enough you can get crazy deals on ebay. One example of a crazy deal was to win an auction of an 1911 Chinese HOT flame dollar with 92 pounds last year and just tried to buy another one but it sold with 600 pounds.I got many good deals on ebay but I spend a lot of time searching for bargains. You can`t go wrong investing in art, coins, antiques.Just started to invest in old gold coins buying from reputable gold dealers but so far it`s been a disaster.Gold is King because it has unique properties and also because it makes us feel like Smeagol. ''Scientists have observed two stars slamming into each other deep in space sending out huge amounts of gold in an alchemical explosion''. Looking at the gold chart in dollars it looks bullish .I think people are quietly buying gold.Big banks are rising the interest rates, inflation soaring... My motto is: If a great recession will happen I win because I hold precious metals. If there won`t be any recession I still win because there`s nothing to worry about and I can keep buying coins

Finally bought two gold coins that have been high on my list all through 2017: the 1 ounce 2017 Britannia 30th Anniversary bullion, and a 2017 American 1 ounce gold Eagle. Bought the Britannia directly with BTC (an interesting first for me..) and the AGE was from APMEX this week when they dropped the price way down, so both fell under the £1000 bar that is my psychological price barrier for buying an ounce of gold😉.

What will happen to gold if we go digital

Bitcoin is indeed limited, but this is a programming variable that could be changed. Its unlikely, but if the core community (miners) came to consensus it would go through. Cryptos are fiat because they are issued from nothing, with no intrinsic value (energy used is not intrinsic value, its a cost of production). Their limits can be adjusted, blockchains forked to instantly double the amount of currency and new versions created by some developer team. The only functional difference from conventional fiat is that the authority is a group of developers and core community, rather than a government. It is decentralised and democratised through that authority, but that doesn't give it any intrinsic value.

What will happen to gold if we go digital

I think the 2008 crisis woke up many countries holding trillions in US Dollar treasuries that they could have all been rendered worthless overnight. It's only since then the Chinese have gone on a dedicated mission to swap out much of these for hard tangible assets that won't disappear should it happen again. I agree with the OP's theory that we are heading "cashless", true there is an argument to be made that we are 90% of the way there already but at least for now we have the ability to plank some cash aside in case of emergencies. With a full digital currency your paycheck and any windfalls remain in the bank in digital format and in the event of a banking crisis you can't get it out, great news for the banks as they can introduce steeper and steeper negative interest rates and you can either put up with it or spend it. There is no more bank runs all that will happen in the event of a crisis is your contactless payment and cards will just stop working one morning while the bank decides how much of a haircut to give you to bail them out and they now have access to all your wealth, every last penny. This is where gold and silver comes in, when the cashless system is announced there will be a mad rush to get something of worth to hold as assets outside the banking system and if you don't already have any you are going to have to pay and there wont be enough for everyone. Even if this scenario does not come around then we are stuck with what we have now, endless money printing and the banks buying up everything with it so there is nothing left for the little guy, what happens once they own all the bonds and stocks, are they going to start buying art and classic cars etc. Again best to get physical assets while you can.
